Lewis Howes

What is gratitude? Gratitude is the disposition or habit to always be thankful in every area of life no matter how big or small.

As people in the United States and Canada are celebrating Thanksgiving today, I would like to share about developing the attitude of gratitude in this post.

Here are a few benefits of having gratitude in your life.

Gratitude ensures that you have very good physical health

People who are thankful eat healthily. They develop a strong immune system. These people have high levels of energy.

Gratitude also improves mental or psychological help

Thankful people demonstrate optimism and mental sharpness. People who have gratitude find it easy to solve difficult mental challenges.

Gratitude makes your life satisfactory

People who are thankful, live a happy and contented life. They are happy with what they have and are not victims of greed.

Gratitude increases empathy for human beings

People with grateful hearts enjoy good relationships with their spouses, family, and friends. These people have a very kind and compassionate heart and are always ready to help those who are in need.

Gratitude reduces stress and anxiety

Thankful people have a better sense of self-worth and self-esteem. Thankful people don’t take things too seriously and so they have low levels of stress and in some cases no stress at all. They don’t worry about a lot of things and so that lives are calm and anxiety-free.

Gratitude increases productivity

It is found that people who are grateful and thankful are very good workers. Their output in terms of quality, as well as quantity, is superior to the other workers. People who are thankful enjoy work and perform better on the job.

How to cultivate an attitude of gratitude

  1. Keep a journal in which you write everything that has been a blessing to you daily.

Maintain this journal consistently and this will help you to be thankful. As you do this, you will avoid taking things for granted and develop a grateful heart.

2. Make it a habit to thank people for little things.

Try to communicate your gratitude towards people who have made a deep impact on your life.

3. Practice affirmations of thankfulness.

It could be as simple as saying “I am ready to receive blessings this day”

“ I am grateful for the beautiful things that I am going to encounter today.”

“I am thankful for all of life’s exciting opportunities.”

4. Give back to society.

You have received blessings in your life and one way to express gratitude is to give back to society.

In conclusion, the more you practice gratitude, the more blessings you will receive and the more blessings you will receive, the more opportunities you will have to bless others.

Life will become an adventure of happiness and bring blessings in the lives of other people.

I would like to end with this beautiful quote by Wiliam Arthur Ward

Gratitude can turn common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings..

I hope this Thanksgiving will be a meaningful one and that you would be a blessing to many people.
